Cybersmart Citizenship

In acknowledging themselves to be digital citizens from the beginning of their use of technology, young students should come to recognise the importance of protecting their private information online, the value of taking responsibility for themselves and their actions, and the necessity of treating others with an appropriate standard of behaviour online.

Duration: 10-45 mins

Aims to help students:

  • understand that online activities can have associated risks
  • think critically about protecting themselves, their families and their computer while online
  • understand that online identities, such as avatars, can protect them, but may be used by others to pretend to be something they are not

Sharing personal information

Aims to help students:

  • recognise that personal information can be used to identify or locate them
  • understand that personal information must only be shared with trusted people
