  • recognise avatars as online constructs that can help protect their identity

  • develop strategies to deal with unwanted or inappropriate content.

  • understand how online communication is similar to, but differs from, face-to-face communication
  • develop kind and respectful online communication skills.

Cyberbullying

This unit aims to help students to:

  • develop an understanding of bullying and cyberbullying and the similarities and differences between them
  • recognise the different roles of people involved in bullying situations, especially bystanders
  • acknowledge the effects of cyberbullying on the people involved.

  • recognise that personal information can be used to identify or locate them
  • understand that personal information must only be shared appropriately and safely
  • acknowledge that they must seek the help of a trusted adult when setting up online accounts/ profiles.
