QLD Department of Education, Training and Employment
The Department of Education, Training and Employment promotes the reinforcement of positive online behaviours and good digital citizenship as being central to the teaching of cybersafety in schools. Independent Schools, Queensland (ISQ)
Independent schools view cybersafety as part of a broader culture they seek to develop for child protection and safety while educating students in the ethical use of technology.
Each independent school, or system, in Queensland is responsible for their own policies and ISQ provides a number of templates for schools to use. Most schools have similar policies although each is contextualised for and consistent with the school’s values.
Independent Schools Queensland provides the following policies:
- Computer use policy—outlines protocols and procedures for the use of the school’s electronic communication facilities and sets out the policy for acceptable use.
- Mobile phone policy—outlines the procedures for responsible use of mobile phones by students on school premises and on school related activities.
The Education services area on the ISQ website also provides resources on Student health and wellness with links to:
- the National Safe Schools Framework
- Mind Matters
- Values education
- ICT security (including cyberbullying).
Queensland Catholic Education Commission
The Queensland Catholic Education Commission (QCEC) has state-wide responsibilities for Catholic schools which are administered by five Diocesan education authorities and a number of Religious Institutes of Queensland, collectively known as Queensland Catholic school employing authorities.
Each Catholic school authority has its own policies and position about cybersafety and related issues. General cybersafety resources and contact information is available through:
