Backing up your data

Backing up your data

Just imagine how you would feel if you turned on your computer…and nothing happened. Your hard drive has died, taking with it all your family photos and other important personal documents. This is why it is so important to back up your data regularly.

Backing up is the process of copying files to another computer, a removable hard drive or a USB drive or burning files onto a CD-ROM or DVD. It is important to ensure your computer files can be restored if something happens to your computer storage. The backup should be stored in a separate safe location, so it can be reinstalled if data is ever lost. Make sure you backup regularly.

For greatest security, keep backups in a safe location away from your computer, and make more than one copy of your files. If the storage system allows it, protect your data with a password.
