Requests to link

Cybersmart linking policy

The ACMA will consider requests to link from the Cybersmart website to other third party sites, within certain parameters. These include:

  • where the site is one for children, it is created primarily for the particular audience, and is appropriate to that stage of a child's development
  • the site is well produced, with content of a high quality
  • the site is entertaining and promotes positive use of online technologies
  • whether the site has educational merit
  • whether the site’s content complements the Cybersmart aims of informing, educating and empowering users about cybersafety
  • the site contains no more than a low level of commercial content
  • the site is relevant to Australians

Other aspects we look at include the site’s privacy and feedback provisions and the degree to which it is accessible to all users. Requests which include the promotion of educational resources will only be considered if they are available free of charge or on a cost recovery basis.

Except in limited circumstances, the ACMA does not directly link to social networking sites where there is real-time or unmoderated interaction.

The ACMA retains the right to refuse link requests and may, at any time, remove links that do not support the Cybersmart program’s objectives.
